During the year 2008 in four of Vilnius Tourist Information Center (TIC) visited the 50 352 visitors. This is the largest number during the entire period of operation TIC. A significant number of tourists elevation was observed in 2004, the number of tourists to the extent of more than 46 000.
The number of visitors Vilnius tourist information centers in recent years has been constantly rising. During the year 2008 the number of visitors increased by 10.3% compared to 2007 Most of the visitors received in May - September (32 403 visitors). During these months, the number of visiting tourists accounted for more than half of the year. Less visited in January (2070).
Most of the tourists coming from: Poland (7044), Germany (6923), Finland (3698), France (2984), Russia (2900), Spain (2507), Italy (1970), D. Britain (1866), USA (1082), Sweden (493). During the year 2008 Most visited from four centers in Vilnius Rotuses hall center (25 778 visitors). Most of the visitors’ center was in July and August.

Vilnius greeted year 2009 in colours, fireworks and lasers.
Thousands of Lithuanians and guests from all over the world decided to abandon their plans of celebrating the New Year in homestead saunas, seaside hotels or foreign countries. This year they came to see the great laser and firework show of Gert Hof at the Cathedral square in Vilnius.
KLAIPEDA hotel which is located right in front of the Cathedral was packed and all surrounded by curious Lithuanians. The rooms for this night were booked long time ago as everybody wanted to enjoy the view through the hotel room windows. Guests and hotel staff were very happy to be in the centre of joy despite the few tiny accidents in and outside the hotel. The hotel itself is proud to have been in the foreground of the great historical event in the heart of Vilnius.

“Germans keep traveling,” reassures Marc Burgdorff, head of a Baltic tourism agency in Berlin.
Mr Burgdorff is convinced that the crisis may have a positive effect on the tourism market, as the current enormous prices will go down in some places.
Actually, the prices were too high not in Lithuania, but in Latvia.
Having returned from a meeting of Baltic tourism specialists in Vilnius, Mr Burgdorff was glad that he came to an understanding with the new heads of the Tourism Department.
According to Mr Burgdorff, German tourists are attracted to Lithuania by the country’s good name: “Baltic States have good reputation in Germany. On the one hand, they preserve traditions, and on the other hand, they are dynamic and fast-growing markets. So far Germans have been visiting Lithuania mostly for historic reasons.”
