Žagarė is a city with long historic roots that is famous for its nature and cultural heritage, horses and cherries. And this is exactly what makes the accent for the organized Festival. The theme of the 2009 Festival: …I loved you with the tail of one’s eye…
On July 16 - 19 the Žagarė Cherry Festival is organized for the 5th time already and during the cherry crop it will be felt in various historic places of Žagarė.
The Festival will start on June 16 (Thursday) with a concert of famous opera soloists that are natives of Žagarė. The whole weekend will be full or various events and attractions such as exhibitions, competitions, funfairs and amusements. However, the flashpoint of Žagarė Cherry Festival 2009 will be the performance of the State Small Theater of Vilnius: “The Cherry Orchard” by Anton Chekhov. The performances staged by Rimas Tuminas have been showed in most famous world scenes and now, during the Žagarė Cherry Festival it will be played in a park near the estate buildings.
