“The Original Blütenweg Jazzer” band in Lithuania

Vilnius continues to prove to be a real European Capital of Culture 2009 as the city and the whole country is breathing with the rhythms of arts, exhibitions, performances, concerts and many other entertainments and events.
Both citizens and city guests in Klaipeda and Vilnius should be glad to hear the message that the traveling band - The Original Blütenweg Jazzer - from Bensheim (South-West Germany) will be performing in Lithuania this August.

Everyone is warmly welcome to get some jazzy mood in Klaipeda Sea Festival at 4 p.m. on the 2nd of August as well as in Vilnius Teachers’ House at 8 p.m. on the 7th of August.
The Original Blütenweg Jazzer dedicates itself for playing a happy and cheerful Dixieland and jazzy Oldies and therefore, no listener will be able to stay unmoved or cold while hearing  distinctive way and sense of humor of bands interpretation of well-known standards and oldies. Through 30 years of life-playing the band proved to create enthusiasm among a broad range of fans of all ages.
Using „exotic“ instruments such as „Rain Pipe“ or washboard underlines the creativity of the band as well as the fun in performing. The seven musicians do not miss a chance to participate in famous international festivals such as Bingen, Dillenburg, Dresden, Esslingen, Idstein, Kaiserslautern, Speyer and Worms. In year 2004 the band has been playing in New Orleans, USA, and two years after the performance was held in South Africa.
Apart from musical work and life-performances the members of the jazz band will be exploring and traveling through our country. The holiday trip of The Original Blütenweg Jazzer is organized by a Lithuanian Travel Agency “Visit Lithuania”. The group will visit many famous places such as Curonian Spit with Neringa, Nida and Thomas Mann Summerhouse,  Palanga with a unique Amber Museum, Panemune Castle Road and Trakai with its sublime castle and Karaites cultural life.

How Vilnius defensive wall converted into a Gates of Dawn?

The Gates of Dawn before several centuries was the gateway to the Eastern world. The long and dangerous road was starting outside of this wall. Before the trip people prayed and hung St. Virgin Mary images here. Over time, this place came to the fore because of miracles and graces done here. Project Siluetas LT - tour around Lithuania

To mark the millennium of Lithuania, I-III form culture management students of Vilnius University Kaunas faculty of humanities, Philosophy and culture studies chair in cooperation with UAB „Telesoftas“ have prepared the project (the superintendent doc. V.Jurėnienė), which maingoal is to organize a hike around Lithuanian frontier in July-August 2009, and in this way to unite all Lithuanian people in the country as well as in the nearest states and Lithuanian society abroad. With help of history, ethnic culture and traditions, we aspire to open the doors to Lithuania and show how unique our nation is.

The project is important in the way that any full of initiative, volunteer people from any Lithuanian district or region may participate in the hike, besides to many hiking clubs from different towns that will take part in the walking tour.

Inaddition to encouraging to actively participate in Lithuanian cultural life, people’s civilization, nation consciousness, socialization, ethnic traditions, various age people initiative, cultural continuation, as well as hiking activity, enlightment, will be cherished and teached during the hike. Also they will be encouraged to get interested, discover the history of Lithuania, it’s traditions, heritage and geography with the help of modern technologies.

The hikers will show not only historical or architectural heritage, but also give an example of cherishing authentic ethnic culture. Every internet user may watch and follow the information – video and audio reports, interview and photos – about culture objects in a virtual space, because the moving of the teams will be directly shown in the interactive projects page www.siluetasLT.com via GPS system.

The Project will be presented to the society in press, radio, internet, television. The country, nation, history and culture will be united at once.
