Venue: Skalvija Film Centre, A. Goštauto Str. 2/15 Vilnius
Lithuanian audience will be offered 52 famous world films with greatest impact on the language and development of cinema. The programme will be developed by the Cinema Department of New York Museum of Modern Art in co-operation with the international centre for avant-garde cinema “Anthology Film Archives”. The world’s most famous film critics belonging to the International Federation of Film Critics “Fipresci” will introduce films to spectators. The project will culminate in the one-month event “The Golden Age of Avant-garde”, its programme covering the avant-garde movement from its start (Dada, Hans Richter) to the death of Jurgis Mačiūnas. The event will involve invited guests to introduce their films and give lectures.
The circle of the cinema history is going round and spectators will be able to become acquainted with the birth and development of the sound. A lot of films will be sound recorded lively. Live sounds of the films will be made by Arkadijus Gotesmanas (percussion), Marijus Aleksa (drums), Vygis Kisevičius (saxophone), quartet „Twentytwentyone” (Arturas Bumšteinas, Antanas Dombrovskis, Lina Lapelytė and Vilius Lys), Eugenijus Kanevičius (contrabass), Juozas Kuraitis (saxophone), Dovydas Stalmokas (saxophone), Dmitrij Golovanov (keyboard), Frank London (JAV, the winds) and other musicians.
