International rugby match in Vilnius - Bury St. Edmunds RUFC against Gelezinis Vilkas
Filed Under travel packages | 1 Comment
On the 2nd of October, 2009 at Vingis Park - Rugby Square there competed Vilnius rugby team “Gelezinis Vilkas” against the “Bury St. Edmunds” RUFC team from England. Mr. John Kulakovskis was the judge of this match.
“Bury St. Edmunds” team does not play in the elite England Guinness league - but it’s progress is astonishing. First, during the last three years the team climbed up and now is playing in the 6th division in accordance with the strength. At this season they have achieved three victories and one defeat and are proud of the second place in the tournament table.
From this year the team is led by new coach Mr. Dwain Brown from South Africa, who highlights young coaches education and children’s attraction to rugby.
However, despite the fact, that this England team is really great, “Bury St. Edmunds” suffered defeat in the competition against the Lithuanian team! This time Lithuanian team “Gelezinis Vilkas” was really powerful and impregnable!
It is great that men from England did not plunge in the sadness after the game and enjoyed the night life of Vilnius! Travel agency “Visit Lithuania” - which organized all this rugby tour - borrowed a guitar to “Bury St. Edmunds” RUFC team to create the real party atmosphere!

2069. The almighty European Union has occipied the whole continent and assumed a new antique name of the Roman Empire. There are no boundaries, languages, and all national customs and singularities are prohibited. However, the Romans discover a group of rebels. They are Finnish. They live in a huge container, foster their native language and customs and deny all laws of the new Empire. The cosy micro-universe has everything what a Finn needs – from karaoke to sauna. All the more, the Finns are drinking a magic ancient drink (pontikka), which gives unearthly powers to them.
This artistic vision of Kristian Smeds – one of the most famous Finnish dramatist and theatre director created with the assistance of Jūratė Paulėkaitė – the recognised stage-manager from Lithuania and the international group of actors, dancers and musicians. This critical project elaborates on thoughts and expectations of residents of the contemporary EU. The play accentuates changes affecting both, issues of the European and of the national identity. For centuries the Baltic Sea has served the nations living on coasts as a convenient trade route and provider of sustenance. Baltic Sea has been and remains to be key factor that forms political, cultural, environmental and economic identity of the Baltic Sea Region. The most prominent cities of the region have grown as ports on the coast of the Baltic Sea or on the waterways immediately connected to the Sea. Many of these cities continue to function as important sea ports serving the ever increasing flows of goods through the Baltic Sea Region.
Developing technological capacity has rendered feasible and economically profitable variety of human activities in the sea that would seem science fiction just few decades ago. The global-scale the use of sea space, especially that of the continental shelf, has intensified and diversified manifold. In several shelf seas, the economic claims for the marine space exceed their respective surface area several times. Since the last decades of 20th century experts and stakeholders have been calling for Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and adoption of harmonized principles of MSP that would allow avoiding conflicts, respect multitude of interests, is politically fair, economically prudent and environmentally responsible.
The importance of MSP as a key instrument for an Integrated Maritime Policy for the EU was highlighted by DG MARE in the Roadmap for MSP: Achieving Common Principles in the EU (EC, November, 2008).
