On Wednesday, continuing his visit in the United States, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius opened the NASDAQ Stock Market morning trading session in New York. Prime Minister Kubilius delivered a short address during the morning bell-ringing ceremony, which had been hosted by a number of famous people from around the world; the Prime Minister noted that a branch of the NASDAQ OMX Group has been operating in Lithuania as Vilnius Stock Exchange.
“Be farsighted, invest in Lithuania. Lithuania is a dynamic and courageous country that likes winning and knows how to do it. By investing into Lithuania, we shall win together!” said Prime Minister Kubilius during the opening of the NASDAQ Stock Market morning trading session.
NASDAQ opening and closing bell ceremonies have been hosted by different high-ranking state officials such as U.S. President Barack Obama or U.S. Secretary of State Ms. Clinton and other well-known figures. It is here that corporate highlight events are marked by best-known companies, listed at NASDAQ OMX, such as Microsoft, Google, Starbucks, Cisco, and many others.
AB Nasdaq OMX Vilnius is a new name to AB Vilnius Stock Exchange. Name changing was another step towards integration into the world’s largest stock exchange operator NASDAQ OMX.

The visitors of the exhibition have a unique opportunity to see the collection of natural beauty from the Lithuanian Art Museum funds. This is an example of the connection between the culture and natural sciences. The scientifically valuable Baltic amber inclusion collection is among the world’s largest and foremost. Animals and plants hermetically sealed in amber are documents of nature that have been preserved over millions of years. The visitors will see even 214 inclusions from the Palanga Amber Museum, with different insect groups and motifs of plants.

Believe, it is necessary to come to Zarasai land in midwinter - on the first Saturday of February - as there are several reasons for that: if you wish to meet nearly half of Lithuania and you are yearning for the only in Lithuania such joyful gathering, for the residents of Dusetos so truly preparing for the horserace and for Dusetos township, which becomes an oasis of festive din – make preparations for your journey! Escapades of nature, changeable weather and other unexpectedness may not become an obstacle – you must be in Dusetos as it becomes a spotlight of the whole Lithuania on that day. The residents of this township can pride themselves: traditional republican harness horserace has exceeded the limits of Zarasai region many years ago - it became one of the most impressive events in Lithuania that is known even abroad: more and more journalists interested in it come from abroad to watch the races as well as the process of preparation for them.
The organizers of the festival understand their responsibility – the horserace held this year counts the 210th anniversary, 140 years of regular organization and even the 100 years from the date of declaration of the race as traditional. So deep history of the races is marked with legends, stories and vivid heroes. Since the old days the main place for the fight of racers has always been the beautiful Lake Sartai. It is disappointing but changeable winters often trips the organizers up – ice of the lake becomes dangerous. But inventive organizers have found the way out – they arrange the races quite near - in the hippodrome under the side of the lake and they will never connive at the capricious winter and at unpredictable nature of it.
