Lithuanians won the 20th Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships

The Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships returned to Breckenridge for the 20th year from Jan. 26-31, 2010. The Sculptures “lived” in the area around the Riverwalk Center grounds at 150 West Adams Avenue, Breckenridge, CO 80424.
Operating for over 18 years, this competition has grown to become one of the largest snow competitions around. Each year, thousands of spectators gather to watch blocks of snow transformed into mind-blowing shapes and sculptures over the course of five days. Each team consists of four people who work over 65 hours to win one of the three awards in Style, Theme, and Technique. There are also Peoples’, Kids’, and Artists’ Choice awards. Depending on the weather, most sculptures are available for viewing up to 5 days.
This year partcipated 12 teams from 6 countries- Canada, China, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Mexico and the United States. Within the United States were teams from Alaska, Breckenridge/Colorado, Loveland/Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The winners of the 20th Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships were announced on Sunday, January 31, 2010:
1st Place and Kids’ Choice- Team Lithuania
2nd Place- Team Canada, Ontario
3rd Place- Team Mexico
People’s Choice- Team USA/Alaska
Artists’ Choice- Team Wisconsin
