Scanning work of St. Ann church is still unfinished, but the U.S. organization CyArk has already announced it’s first three-dimensional images of the church.
More three-dimensional images on the web will appear in late autumn. Scanned data processing will take three months.
Non-profit-making company in Lithuania scanned church for free. The engineer Erwin Christofer at the press conference on Thursday did not hide that he is searching for a customer in our region thus.
His company scans the buildings, creates a detailed three-dimensional image, which can be converted to drawings or simply use the context condition of the building in the past.

A fragment of the article:
This post was written by Dirk Häusleigner of Christofori und Partner before departing for Vilnius. Dirk has worked on 3D laser scanning projects around the world, including several projects in the CyArk Archive. These include St. Sebald Church, The Stone Bridge of Regensburg, and Babylon.
We are very excited about this upcoming project of scanning the St. Anne church in Vilnius. The church is probably the most famous structure in Vilnius. It is a masterpiece of late, Flamboyant Gothic architecture, nearly unsurpassed in the world. The brick church was designed by Benedikt Rejt and constructed on the initiative of Grand Duke of Lithuania Alexander in 1495-1500.The church has survived into the present almost unchanged. The church was renovated in 1902–1909 when the side arches were uncovered and the walls were strengthened with iron and again in 1960–1970 when the towers were in need of restoration.

Among the three Baltic capitals, Vilnius (where the Tartan Army will be heading for Scotland’s European Championship qualifier on September 3) is the quiet little sister compared with Riga and Tallinn.
Still slightly immature, but fast coming of age, she’s also arguably the most fun when you get to know her.
Only 20 years ago Lithuania was still subjected to the control of the Soviet regime so it’s little wonder it delights in its hard-won independence and is brimming with optimism. The predominantly young population seem to have a sense that they’re at a good point in the country’s history; and that’s precisely why you see them out enjoying their freedom and revelling in their culture, once so harshly repressed.
Which is not to say this results in scenes of public drunkenness or objectionable behaviour, it doesn’t (and thankfully the British stag party scene hasn’t hit here – not yet anyway, but at the equivalent of £1.80 a pint that won’t take long). The worst that happens to us during our walk back from a delicious three-course meal that set us back £20, including wine, are a few encounters with the kamikaze cyclists who use (quite legally, it transpires) the pavements, not the roads.
Vilnius has the largest old town in eastern Europe, and it’s in this labyrinth of cobbled alleyways – with around 50 churches and what seems like endless cafes – that you’ll no doubt spend most of your time: people-watching, sightseeing or souvenir shopping for the excellent quality (and remarkably cheap) linen and amber goods for which the country is famed.
A disproportionately large part of the population seem to be in their 20s; many people speak excellent English and seem delighted to welcome foreigners. As these young people have grown up in the country post-independence you may have to seek out the older generation to discuss life in the USSR.

Sea Festival is a feast continuing for seven decades. The organizers of the first Sea Day, which took place on August 11-12, 1934, probably could not even imagine that the event, organized by them, the objective of which was to glorify the sea, and to strengthen the status of Lithuania as a sea state in the world, to encourage the development if Lithuanian fleet and to present Klaipeda to Lithuania, one day will celebrate its seventieth anniversary. One of the greatest events that took place in Klaipeda district in 1934 was the grand Sea Day in Klaipeda on August 11-12. It attracted people from entire Lithuania that there were approximately 100 000 people (including locals) in Klaipeda city on those days. Klaipeda has not seen that many guests before. The streets were densely packed, ships and other vehicles were completely full, and the seaside was swarmed with crowds of people. City ferries alone transported about 40 000 people through lagoon to the dunes, and another 10 000 visitors traveled there by various vessels or visited Melnrage seashore by feet.
During the festival there are more than 100 various events organized (concerts, fairs, exhibitions, artistic actions, ceremonies of seamen, etc.). It is also famous for traditional sailing regattas “BALTIC SAIL” and „SPRINT CUP” taking place during the festival.
In addition to brass bands, classical music, jazz and pop ensembles concert programs in the main city squares and streets -world-famous performer and songwriter Mika concert (”The Boy Who Knew Too Much” tour). The concert will be held August 01 in Klaipeda!
More than 500 thousands of people are coming to the city during the festival.
