Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace delivers today the third CRJ900 NextGen regional jet to Estonian Air. The jet will arrive to Estonia on early morning of 16 January and makes its first regular flight on 18 January on Tallinn-Copenhagen route.

In parallel to Boeing 737 and Saab 340, Estonian Air flights are served with two new CRJ NextGen aircraft that were delivered to Estonia in the beginning of the year. Altogether Estonian Air ordered three new CRJ900 NextGen aircraft from the Canadian aircraft manufacturer.

Estonian Air is having negotiations to add more new generation aircraft to its fleet aiming to serve the summer 2012 schedule with seven next generation regional jets.
Moving from B737-fleet to regional jets, allows Estonian Air to increase flight frequencies, to add new destinations and to operate at least double daily services to main destinations in Europe.

Estonian Air focuses on improving the connection between Estonia and the rest of the world with the aim of increasing competitiveness as a network carrier hub. In 2012 Estonian Air will increase flight frequencies and open new destinations in European’s most important cities as well as regional centres in Scandinavia.

Estonian Air flies to 25 destinations in CIS, Scandinavia and Europe. The airline has recently announced new destinations for next summer, such as Helsinki, Riga, Jyväskylä, Hannover, Vienna, Venice, Kokkola/Pietarsaari, Joensuu, Kajaani and Tbilisi.
The ticket prices start at 49.9 euros, including all fees and taxes, baggage, snacks and soft drinks on longer flights and soft drinks on flights that last less than 1 hour.

Starting from June 7, Latvian national airline airBaltic will offer direct flights from Vilnius to Stockholm and Berlin in cooperation with its partner Skyways.

The new flights will be operated daily, except Saturdays, and provide convenient direct access for passengers travelling to/from Stockholm Arlanda and Berlin Tegel airports.

airBaltic passengers are offered the new flights as part of a cooperation agreement with Skyways. The existing cooperation agreement offers frequent and convenient service for passengers travelling to Skyways domestic destinations in Sweden, including Halmstad, Jonkoping, Kristianstad, Karlstad, Sundsvall. Skyways passengers in turn have better access to airBaltic’s destinations in Europe, Russia, CIS and the Middle East.

„Wizz Air“ lėktuvai ant žemės
Hungary’s low-fare airline Wizz Air is back in Vilnius and said it is not concerned about competition from Ryanair

Wizz Air’s CEO Joseph Varadi is also predicting that in three years time Estonian Air and Latvia’s airBaltic will be forced to leave Vilnius airport.

“In Poland, we’ve been competing with Ryanair for almost six years, and we are number one there now. I don’t see any reasons why we couldn’t work together successfully in Lithuania,” Varadi said after journalists asked if he is not afraid of competition from Ryanair in a press conference on April 15.

He also added that he would be “very surprised to see Estonian Air and airBaltic staying in Vilnius Airport in three years time.”

Varadi informed journalists that in two months over 40,000 tickets had been sold.

Wizz Air hopes to fly 300,000 passengers per year via Vilnius. Wizz Air started flights from Vilnius on April 16. The company is scheduled to fly to London, Cork, Stockholm, Barcelona, Eindhoven and Milan.
