Vilnius will become the Mecca of art photography for the second time.
International art photography festival “In Focus” will invite Vilnius’ citizens and guests for photographic dialogue to the galleries and public spaces. The focus of the festivals’ program – premieres of photo artists from Lithuania and abroad, workshops, photo sessions, competition program and much more. Special attention will be paid not only for professional art photography but also to the experiments of young artists; to photography as a way of thinking and seeing the world. “Boredom”. Vytautas Balčytis, Monika Bielskytė, Alfonsas Budvytis, Joana Deltuvaitė, Doooooris, Vidmantas Ilčiukas, Arūnas Kulikauskas, Algimantas Kunčius, Giedrius Liagas, Alvydas Lukys, Jonas Mekas, Aleksandras Ostašenkovas, Vytautas Stanionis, Andrius Surgailis, Algirdas Šeškus, Remigijus Treigys, Gintautas Trimakas, Remigijus Pačėsa, Rokas Pralgauskas, Saulius Paukštys, Raimundas Urbonas, Arturas Valiauga, Gintaras Zinkevičius. For the first time in a joint space, works by artists exploring the “aesthetics of boredom” will be displayed at the National Art Gallery. The term, created by Dr. Agnė Narušytė, describes the photography of the last decade of the 20th century through boredom, and has affirmed itself both in artistic and academic discourse. In the exhibition, boredom is extended from Jonas Mekas to nowadays photography.

The Festival will present programmes of the latest short films from Germany, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, France, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, retrospectives of famous film directors and special theme programmes.The traditional festivalpartners will participate in the film screening: European Co-ordination of Film Festivals, Hamburg Short Film Agency, Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival (Portugal), Brest Film Festival (France), All-Russia Institute of Cinematography, St Petersburg Festival “Message To Man”, Danish Film Institute, Swedish Film Institute, Norwegian Film Institute, Film Polski, Latvian Film Centre, Estonian Film Fund, Cinésites (France) and others. Films will be presented by famous cinema personalities; the festival will feature numerous meetings with filmmakers. The three best films of “Tinklai” Festival will be awarded: the Golden Spectator, The Silver Spectator, The Bronze Spectator.

These concerts under the vaulting of St.Catherine Churh are notable not only for exceptional surroundings, but also for the rised spirit, delicate sound and performance of the band‘s well known songs. The anniversary 20th International Festival of Modern Dance will take place in Kaunas and Vilnius on 18th - 26th of September. The Festival annually attracts not only the most prominent modern dance troupes from all over the world but also new discoveries in the scene. Its 20th birthday will be celebrated together with guests from USA, Brasil, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy.
It is not an accident that a significant part of the 20th Festival program is collected from performances of loyal to a festival troupes. And unseen troupes where selected by the festival head choreographer Birutė Letukaitė during visitations to the different foreign festivals and dance platforms.
