A 3,000 m2 bunker in the outskirts of Vilnius 5 meters bellow ground, The Bunker: a survival show where USSR revives…
Have you forgotten what it was like, or have you never seen it in general?
Would you like not only to see, but experience firsthand what the life was like back then?
Welcome to the USSR, preserved / reconstructed in The Bunker…
Upon your arrival to the bunker you will be met by Soviet guards with dogs. For two hours you will part with whoever you are in this century; all your stuff, your money, cameras and cell phones. Dressed in grey Soviet threadbare clothing you will get into the life of a simple Soviet citizen full of fear and uncertainty. You will be led through a reinforced concrete slabs maze five meters down under, you`ll see Soviet television broadcasts and visit shops from 1984, you`ll be interrogated in a KGB office, taught the USSR anthem, you`ll get used to carrying around a gas mask. You’ll have to dance to the music of the times and sink in to the soviet spirit, let it sink in you. Will you be able to? Will you endure?
If so, before the door to freedom opens, an authentic Soviet dinner awaits you, served on authentic tableware of the times with a complementary glass of real Soviet vodka (if someone brings the bottle into the bunker….) Those who are not pressed for time can enjoy the other side of the Soviet life, the life of the powerful: an extraordinary feast : in the middle of Soviet poverty, the exclusive Communist Party Central Committee dinner will be served - white tablecloths and crystal tableware, sturgeon, caviar and cognac.
The survival show, “1984 in the Bunker” (Back to the USSR), is not for the weak, it`s certainly not for children under 16 and even not for every senior. Attendance is not recommended if you suffer from heart problems, asthma, and epilepsy or claustrophobia.

The only one day pe
r year in Lithuania when many cities here are full of music sounds is the Street Music Day. It is a national festival inspired by one of the most appreciated Lithuanian musician Andrius Mamontovas. The idea was realized for the first time in 2007 and it became a wonderful tradition uniting all Lithuania with sounds of music in the streets.
In 2007, 295 groups obtained permits to play on the streets and Street Musician Day involved about 600 street-players. In 2008, Street Musician Day erupted all across Lithuania with more than 3,000 musicians playing in the capital and 31 other cities and towns. Street Musician Day in 2009 will involve Lithuanians living all over the world playing jazz, rock, classics, rhythms and folk music out on the streets.
The first Saturday of May is the big day for all music lovers in Lithuania. Everybody who can sing, play or simply make some noise are welcome to go outside and fill the air with sounds. There are no any limits – it does not matter what is your age, nationality and a repertoire. According to the initiator of this fest Andrius Mamontovas, this day is a gift for Lithuania gifted by Lithuanians themselves without any blessing or financing by government. It is just a little miracle and fantastic atmosphere uniting everybody in one great celebration.
This year this important event for everyone who loves music will be taken place on seventh May. Although first time in 2007 musicians came out to play only in Vilnius, but now the festival spread all over Lithuania and every active municipality built perfect conditions for playing in the streets in their cities.
This good initiative helps people not only to have a good time, but also, to earn as listeners are often inclinable to donate some coins for performers. Musicians usually have upturned hats or open cases put nearby showing that they accept donation. And that is not illegal or unacceptable – it is just a fun part of the whole festival strengthening relations between musicians and listeners as well as motivating performers to perform as well as it is possible.
